Who are we?
Balkan Film Magazin is your go-to film photography blog, authored, edited, and published by Ivan Kristić. Our main goal is to inspire more and more people from the Balkans to get into film photography, and that’s why we are here. While the film resurgence happened around 2018, I noticed it didn’t start in the hilly Balkans. It’s evident that in the Balkans, many people didn’t embrace the resurgence of film. This realization fuels our determination to expand the community of film photographers by sharing knowledge and experiences in film photography

Why Film Photography Magazine in 2024
After the early 2000s, we all saw that many magazines either died off or went fully digital. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a subscriber to magazines, which eventually led me to the decision to open a website. I’ve been wanting to start a website/blog in a magazine style for a while now, all about film photography. Why?
I’m very passionate about film photography (no sh..t Sherlock). This website will be bringing local and global news, reviewing cool gear, and mainly about getting more people in the Balkans excited about film photography. With that, I want to introduce a couple of cool stuff with this website.

Monthly Photo Showcase
First of all, what is the Monthly Photo Showcase? One of our goals at Balkan Film Magazine is to promote local and small artists. Using hashtags like #balkanfilmmag or #balkanfilmmagazine, to get featured on our website and Instagram, like our monthly best-of showcase. This includes film photos taken by Balkans locals or travelers capturing the region’s essence with film cameras.
Member Submissions
The second part of our plan involves opening up article submissions for our readers. Why are we doing this? We aim to cultivate a vibrant community of film photography enthusiasts, especially since this website is currently run by a single individual. By submitting an article, you’ll have the chance to contribute to a growing community passionate about film photography. Your work will be showcased on our platform, providing exposure and the opportunity to share valuable insights with our audience.
